"Following a plea by RIBI Disaster Co-ordinator Iain Young a
consignment of 100 Water-Survival Boxes were sent to Zimbabwe to
provide families at risk of the cholera epidemic with a means of
purifying water. This was a joint operation with Oxfam, whose
representative in Harare, took responsibility for ensuring the boxes
were distributed to families most at risk. The father photographed
with his family's Water-Survival Box is sporting a Childsplay 2008
tee-shirt linking the Rotary Club of Taunton Vale with the Chelwood
Bridge Club who manage the Water-Survival Box project." |

Chairman of the Rotary project, Hugo Pike, said ‘We are pleased to help
knowing that Oxfam will ensure the aid gets to those who need it. This
is our first experience of working in partnership with Oxfam GB and we
are impressed by the professional and efficient way they have helped us.
We hope to develop this relationship in the future for the benefit of
those caught up in natural and man-made disasters.’

Each Water-Survival Box costs £150 (including the cost of air freight).
